2 Once your fingers start to settle down and toughen up you need to practice on a regular basis. If you are a beginner 10 to 30 minutes a day, for 4 to 5 days a week. If you are an advanced player you should play for at the very least 15 minutes a day (and up to 3 to 4 hours) if you want to avoid getting sore fingers. After a short period of time hardened skin will form on your finger ends that are quite often referred to as calluses.

They key to avoid getting sore finger ends is to practice regularly and not take too long breaks between your practice sessions.
